Classics are order of the day in new poll

It looks like MCE Insurance customers, if presented with a nice cash prize, would likely reinvest this money into another bike – specifically a classic. Such are the findings of a recent poll by Footman James in the “How will you spend yours?” competition.

Run by the specialist insurance broker, the classic show season brought in nearly 1,000 entries and discovered that most enthusiasts of the older bike scene would spend the £5,000 cash prize on another beautiful two-wheeled offering.

Classic car and bike enthusiast Robert Turner, who won the prize after getting a quote for his Matchless G80 CS at the Stafford Bike Show, is one of these. He already owns three classic bikes on top of a 1966 Scimitar GT, and is excited to invest in another soon.

“I will try and locate the Vincent Comet 1953 which I sold 20 years ago so my wife could have a conservatory,” he said. “If I am unsuccessful in buying it back I would love a 1993 Ducati 916 which is undoubtedly the classic of the future.”

Footman James managing director Andy Fairchild said: “We are delighted to have presented the £5000 cash prize to a true enthusiast. Helping classic fans to fulfil their dreams in such a difficult economic climate was the main driver behind the competition.”
