Men’s jean trends for 2012

Jeans are the steadfast of the fashion world, the go-to staple in everyone’s wardrobe that offer comfort, reliability and even style. Though the ‘in’ designs can vary slightly, trusty denim trousers are present every year. So, when it comes to denim designs for 2012, what should you be looking out for?

In 2011, the popularity of the traditional jean took a bit of a knock thanks to the rise of the chino, which even impacted on jean styles by inspiring an injection of colour in the denim world. The whole make geek chic trend was massive and coloured skinny jeans were teamed with patterned jumpers and glasses for full effect. In Spring 2012 the preppy look is still in force, though it’s turning a little more blokey with slim fit denim or cord jeans being worn rolled up – like chinos – revealing work boots underneath. For some good examples take a look at Bank Fashion.

Slim fit jeans are every bit as versatile as their skinny counterparts, ever more so thanks to them largely sticking to traditional denim shades such as indigo or light blue. However, they aren’t always so easy to dress up. With this in mind, you may want to hang on to your skinny jeans and designer worker-fit jeans, as these often look better teamed with shirts or smart T-Shirts.
